STARPATH
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 23, 2026
Starpath is a private space for remembering a child you have lost. The words and moments you keep here are deeply personal, and protecting them is the foundation of everything we build. This policy explains what we collect, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We only collect what is needed to give you your space:
- Account details. A private recovery key is created for you automatically. If you choose to link an email address so you can return on any device, we store that email and a securely hashed version of your password (never the password itself).
- The content you create. This includes your child's name or nickname, their due date, an optional gestational week, the memories and reflections you write, the moods you attach to them, and the rituals (such as lighting a lantern or flower) you mark.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
- We do not use your content for advertising.
- We do not run third-party analytics or behavioural tracking on your entries.
- We do not read, index, or analyse the memories you write for any purpose beyond storing and showing them back to you.
How we use your information
Your information is used solely to operate the service — to sign you in, to store and display your space, to enable shared spaces you create, and to keep the service secure and working. It is not used for anything else.
Shared spaces (co-parenting)
If you invite a partner to share a child's space, the content in that space — including memories and rituals — becomes visible to the person who accepts your invitation. Invitations are single-use and expire after seven days. You can see the status of a shared space in your settings.
How your data is stored and protected
Your data is stored in a managed MongoDB database and served from cloud infrastructure operated by Amazon Web Services. Connections to the service are encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and passwords are stored only as secure hashes. These providers process data on our behalf to host the service and do not use it for their own purposes.
Keeping and deleting your data
You are in control of your space and can delete it at any time. From Settings within the app, or from the public Delete account page, you can permanently remove your account and everything tied to it — your account, memories, rituals, child details, shared-space memberships, and any pending invitations. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you can no longer sign in, email us and we will delete your account for you.
Sensitive and children's information
Starpath is intended for adults who are grieving, and is not directed to children. The content you keep here is among the most personal information a person can hold, and we treat it with corresponding care: it is never shared, sold, or used for any purpose other than giving your space back to you.
Your rights
You may access, correct, or delete your information at any time through the app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws; if so, contact us and we will help you exercise them.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Meaningful changes will be communicated within the app where appropriate.
